A pergola is either the reason you spend every evening outside or a good-looking piece of trim you never sit under. The difference is design — pitch, span, orientation, louver control, drainage, lighting, integration with what's already on the property. We spec, engineer, permit, and install motorized louvered roofs and custom pergola structures across South Florida. Rain sensors close them automatically. Wall switches, remotes, or an app tilt them in twenty seconds. You get the shade when the sun is high, sky and stars when it isn't.

Usually the problem is orientation, height, or a lack of shade control. We'll walk it with you and tell you whether to replace it or add louvers over the top.
You're building an outdoor kitchen or bar and need weather protection
The cover has to come first — the finishes, appliances, and cabinetry underneath assume they're protected. We design the pergola and the kitchen as one system.

Common questions
What's the difference between a fixed pergola and a louvered roof?
A fixed pergola has permanent slats — decorative shade at best, and the sun tracks around it all day. A louvered roof has rotating aluminum blades on a motor. Closed, it's a sealed weatherproof ceiling. Open, it's a slatted arbor. In between, it's adjustable shade. You control it from a switch, remote, or phone.
Are motorized pergolas hurricane-rated for South Florida?
The reputable brands (Struxure, Renson, Azenco) are engineered and permitted for FL wind loads. We spec structures that meet the local AHJ requirements — Broward and Palm Beach both require a signed and sealed engineering package for any covered outdoor structure.
How long does an install take?
From signed contract to final inspection: typically 8–14 weeks. The bulk is lead time on the aluminum kit (6–10 weeks). Install itself is 3–7 days on-site depending on size, foundation work, and integrations. Permit adds 2–4 weeks depending on the jurisdiction.
Can you retrofit a louvered roof onto an existing pergola?
Sometimes. Depends on the existing structure's bearing capacity and whether the posts and beams meet current code. We walk it, evaluate, and give you an honest answer — sometimes it's a straight retrofit, sometimes it's better to replace the whole assembly.
